Letter to my dear friend,Molly Swoboda

A Country Boy Discovers "Fyne Wyne"

Dear Molly,

When I heard that resveratrol might increase my life expectancy to near one hundred and twenty years, I ran right out and bought a gallon jug of expensive "fyne red wyne",cork included.

I got home only to find out that we lost our corkscrew thirty-eight years ago. Not one to be deterred once my mind is made up about something potentially beneficial, I drove all over town before I found a store that sold corkscrews. There are so many drunks in Richmond County you would think corkscrews were carried by every store in town.
Not so!

Yuck! I couldn't drink the stuff. Don't know why, 'course,I never tasted wine before. It was the most expensive wine in the dollar store.

I guess they had seen the news article about resveratrol increasing lifespan and raised the prices on red wines.

It was two days before Christmas and a black friend who loves spirits anytime he can get them stopped by to inquire about my health since he had heard the news about me.

"Burp! 'Escuse me , Jay,burp, but I jus stopped by to see how ya doin' aftah your heart attack and all. Said my friend, as he swayed a little trying to maintain his balance and get his eyes focused on me...

Seeing an opportunity to spread some Christmas cheer, and maybe even increasing HIS lifepan to a hundred and twenty years, I did a noble thing.

I said, "Cheetah," His name is James, but for forty years folks have called him Cheetah, so I saw no need to change it

"Cheetah,I'm so glad you stopped by."Said I. " You have been a good friend for forty years and I have never had the money to buy you a Christmas gift, but this year I had a few dollars for presents so I bought you a bottle of the most expensive red wyne I could fyne.

I wanted to make sure it had not spoiled so I opened it and poured myself just a sip to make sure it was excellent quality.I hope you enjoy every drop."

I didn't see Cheetah again until after New Years, but he was still grinning.

That is the only time I have ever tasted red wyne.

I decided I should get my resveratrol from red grapes, and chocolate.
